Catherine Duggan

Catherine is a senior energy/sustainability specialist with 15 years global experience, who joined Grant Thornton in 2021 to lead the sustainability offering in Financial Services. She holds a Ph.D. in Geology from Trinity College Dublin, a science integral to the understanding of climate change, and now applies her industry experience to the financial sector, with a particular focus on banking and the risks and opportunities the transition to a low carbon economy presents.

Orla Carolan

Orla Carolan is a sustainability and financial reporting SME with extensive experience in regulatory reporting and accounting roles in financial services. Orla is an SME in CSRD and ESRS and has worked with the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) as a secondee within the central secretariat since June 2022. Orla is experienced in CSRD implementation including double materiality assessments and disclosure compliance and readiness.

Peter Gillen

Peter is a Sustainability Manager in the Financial Services Advisory team of Grant Thornton in Dublin and he is passionate about this work in support of SDG 13 – climate action. A graduate of Trinity College, Peter began his career training with PwC in their Risk Assurance department before his passion for sustainability led him to joining the Sustainability team in Grant Thornton.

As part of his role supporting clients navigate their sustainability journeys, Peter has worked closely with the EU in drafting the European sustainability reporting standards for several key industries and has facilitated workshops on the Textiles sector standard to over 135 stakeholder organisations reporting companies, NGOs, and industry groups. Peter is involved with several initiatives which help further the SDGs including Chair of the Institute’s Young Professionals Committee and Mentor for the Trinity Alumni Mentoring Programme and has been a vocal advocate and ambassador for the profession for many years.

Peter is representing Chartered Accountants Ireland at this year’s One Young World Conference in Belfast.

Susan Rossney

Susan Rossney is Sustainability Officer for Chartered Accountants Ireland, former Chair of the Institute’s Expert Working Group on Sustainability and Chair of the Sustainability Taskforce of Chartered Accountants Worldwide. She is author of Sustainability for Accountants, Climate Essentials for Accountants and co-author of Sustainability for Small Businesses. Susan works with Institute teams to promote sustainability initiatives for Chartered Accountants Ireland both internally and externally, including curating the Institute’s annual sustainability conference programme.
