Speaker 1: Des Gibney – Leinster Society Chairperson – 2023/ 24 Term

Des qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2003 and worked in KPMG for a period before qualification. Des trained in the Corporate Recovery Department (then known as RAID which stood for Receiverships and Insolvency Department). He has remained in practice for his entire career and spent time working in Australia. He is now an Insolvency Practitioner and Forensic Accountant and a Partner in McStay Luby Chartered Accountants.

Speaker 2: Maria Zapciu

Maria a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and a manager in McStay Luby Chartered Accountants. Maria qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2020 and since joining McStay Luby 7 years ago she gained extensive experience in all aspects of formal insolvency appointments and litigation support/forensic acDvidcounting assignments. Maria manages a large volume of the firm’s insolvency assignments including Receiverships, Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations, Court Liquidations and Members’ Voluntary Liquidations. Maria is also a member of Restructuring and Insolvency Ireland.

Speaker 3 Gemma Freeman, Dentons Ireland

Gemma is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution and Insolvency practice. She specializes in insolvency, corporate recovery related litigation and shareholder disputes. She has advised private equity firms, insolvency practitioners, company directors, stakeholders, liquidators and other fiduciaries on both contentious and non-contentious matters. She has acted for both financial institutions and unsecured creditors of companies in financial distress and insolvency practitioners in a variety of formal insolvency processes, including compulsory and voluntary liquidations, receiverships, bankruptcy and examinerships.
