Barry is an Investment Director at MASV since 2020. He also is a board Observer for Johnson Hanan and Open for vintage and well as being the Deputy President of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Previously barry has been Chief operating officer at Mason Alexander and Chief Financial Officer at Storyful as well as working for Fox.

Níall Fitzgerald, FCA.
Head of Ethics and Governance, Chartered Accountants Ireland

Níall brings together technical expertise, experience and insights from his role with the Institute and his roles as a non-executive director for an Irish Charity and chair of its governance and risk committee, Trustee for an occupational pension scheme, co-founder of Chapter Zero Ireland, advisory member on several global professional accountancy committees/task forces, and Institute of Banking faculty member with focus on financial service governance, risk, sustainability, culture and ethics.

Michael Kavanagh
CEO, Compliance Institute

As CEO of the Compliance Institute, Michael is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the organisation as well as managing its overall operations.

Background: Michael is a Board member and Chair of the audit committee of Carmichael, vice chair of the Sport Ireland/FAI Governance Oversight Group, a council member and Chair of the Education Committee of CPA Ireland, a member of the Sustainable Finance Skillnet Committee, and a member of the Irish committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales.

Michael’s previous roles included CEO of IAASA (The Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority), Director of DPP with KPMG Ireland, Technical Director at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants, lecturer in DBS, examiner, moderator, solution writer for the professional examinations of various accountancy bodies and the Irish Observer at the then Corporate Reporting Council of the FRC which produced the accounting standards for use in the UK and Ireland.

Pascale Vandenbussche
Managing Director, Meilleurs Conseils Financiers

She was Senior Manager with the global consultancy Accenture for the Finance and Performance Management Product Line. She started work as an External Auditor at KPMG before moving to a division of the industrial conglomerate Union Minière as an Internal Audit Manager. Pascale teaches Finance in several business schools in Belgium and France. In 2010, she was appointed Secretary of the Board of ECIIA. Since October 2011, she has been Secretary General of ECIIA.

David Reilly,

David is the Managing Director UK and Ireland of AdminControl since 2019. Previously he was managing director of SMG Broadcast Solutions Ltd. and a Trustee of TRC media.

Jill Shaw
ESG & Sustainability Lead, A&L Goodbody’s

Jill supports A&L Goodbody’s clients and practice groups on ESG and sustainability matters. She has a particular focus on sustainability reporting and disclosure requirements. Jill has extensive experience advising clients on legal and regulatory matters, principally in the asset management and investment funds sector. In addition, she has worked as a senior knowledge lawyer with a focus on compliance with the various European sustainability initiatives applicable to the asset management sector. Jill is also a lecturer on the Law Society of Ireland’s Diploma in Finance Law, including on sustainable finance.

Neil Menzies
Director of Sustainability, Hibernia Real Estate Group Ltd

With over 15 years working in the area of sustainability, he now has responsibility for managing the sustainability efforts across Hibernia’s €1.3bn property portfolio, all of which is in Dublin. and planning for future ESG trends and regulations. Before joining Hibernia, Neil worked as Environment and Sustainability Manager with Luas operator Transdev. He has also worked extensively in consultancy and in the waste industry. He has experience of working internationally having managed large-scale projects in the UK and the Middle East and has a wealth of knowledge across sustainability, infrastructure and facilities management/operations, QEHS Management Systems, energy management and business development.

Deirdre Ryan
Director of Sustainability and Quality Assurance, Origin Green at Bord Bia.

Deirdre has been the director of sustainability at Bord bia for 3 years. During this time Bord Bia have topped the 2023 Ireland The Reputations Agency Sustainability Index.

After original beginning as there origin green ambassador in 2013. Deidre has also worked for Ornua and Lidl as their head of Corporate Social Responsibility. Deirdre is also an accomplished Irish Athlete and Irish Olympian in the High Jump.

Niamh Mulholland
Partner, Financial Institutions Group, Matheson

Niamh Mulholland is a partner in the Financial Institutions Group. Prior to joining Matheson, Niamh worked for a global consultancy business where she led the Irish Asset Management Regulatory Practice. The focus of her practice at Matheson (as in her previous role) is on providing advice to Irish and International Investment Firm, Investment Fund and Investment Banking clients, through every point in the regulatory lifecycle (contentious and non-contentious) including authorisations, regulatory change projects, supervisory engagements, conduct of regulatory due diligence on investment firm and fund management company high value acquisitions and related organisation design programmes, Risk Mitigation Programmes and Skilled Person/Independent Reviews. Her work involves assisting clients with ‘own initiative’ reviews and change programmes as well as responses to Central Bank of Ireland and Financial Conduct Authority supervisory inspections.

Niamh regularly advises global financial institutions on the regulatory process and approvals required in obtaining acquiring transaction approvals, concluding six significant regulatory approvals throughout the course of 2022.

Prior to joining KPMG in 2015, she previously worked at the Central Bank of Ireland. While at the CBI Niamh served in Markets Supervision and Markets Policy Divisions as a Senior Policy Adviser and Authorised Officer. As an authorised officer she led CBI themed inspections and supervisory investigations under securities markets legislation. As a Policy Adviser, she was heavily involved in the 2013 Irish Presidency of the European Council leading the negotiations on the EU Market Abuse Regulation and having a senior advisory role in the, MiFID II/MiFIR dossiers. In addition, she acted as the ESMA Board of Supervisors internal co-ordinator and was also a member of a number of ESMA Standing Committees (Investment Management Standing Committee, Market Integrity Standing Committee and Supervisory Convergence Committee primarily) She was also engaged with the Financial Stability Working Group at the ESRB and was a member of the European Commission Expert Group on Securities Law Legislation. Additionally, she was extensively engaged in the post-crisis Central Bank Legislation (2010 Reform Act and 2013 Supervision and Enforcement Act) and the Central Bank Client Asset and Investor Money regimes. Niamh remains engaged with the EU and Irish Financial Services Regulatory Policy with extensive relationships in Irish and European government agencies and regulatory institutions.

Barry is a Consultant in William Fry’s Technology department. He specialised in artificial intelligence (AI), copyright, IP, technology law and protection.

Mary Coyle
PhD Research artificial Intelligence, TCD

Mary Coyle is a second-year PhD student in Artificial Intelligence at the O’Reilly Institute, Trinity College Dublin, where she is supervised by Dr. Lucy Hederman and Dr. David Lewis. Mary’s research is an investigation into bias in healthcare and how it can be prevented in the public and private healthcare sectors, as well as how unconscious bias may occur. She is researching the development process of an algorithm from planning to deployment to define where unconscious bias may have a negative impact on the results. She has previously studied pharmaceutical operations, medical device technology, and data analytics. Prior to joining the CRT-AI funded PhD programme, she worked as a software tester and received the International Software Testing Qualification.

Richard Bistrong
Front-Line Anti-Bribery LLC

Richard started his career as a successful international sales vice-president of a global corporation & ended with my pleading guilty to violating the FCPA & UK trade offenses. As part of his cooperation agreements, he worked in an undercover capacity with the FBI & City of London Police, before serving a 14-month federal prison term, returning home in 2013. Since 2014, he has been working with organizations through his consultancy, Front-Line Anti-Bribery LLC. In-person & virtually, he has presented to hundreds of diverse global multinationals, focusing on anti- bribery, ethics, & compliance challenges, sharing, his front-line experience & perspective on real-world corruption & compliance risk.
